Officers of the National Anti-Corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors of the Bălți Municipal Prosecutor's Office have announced the investigation of the mayor of Soldanesti in a case initiated on passive corruption. The suspect, together with other employees of the City Hall, allegedly systematically received illicit remuneration from representatives of economic agents to favour them in public procurement processes organized by the City Hall.
According to the accumulated materials, the mayor of Soldanesti, the accountant-economist and other members of the Procurement Commission were documented by the NAC in several episodes in which they received financial means from some beneficiaries of public procurement contracts, concluded within the framework of development projects of the locality. During the investigation, it was found that the suspects had collected 10 percent of the value of the contracts from the beneficiary parties.
In these days, criminal investigation actions took place, authorized by the investigating judge, at the office, residence and car of the mayor of Soldanesti, as well as other persons targeted in the criminal case. At this stage, all persons are being investigated at liberty.
Currently, the investigations continue under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
