The officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), together with the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) raided four employees of the Orhei State Forestry Enterprise in a case of embezzlement of timber, harvested from the fund forester under management.

The law enforcement officers established that the suspects, working in management positions within the Orhei State Forestry Enterprise, including a former director, would have implemented a criminal scheme. During the authorized cutting of wood, the officials would have entered erroneous data regarding the volume and category of wood extracted from the forest fund. Thus, the suspects obtained surplus, which would be illegally alienated and, respectively, illicit income would be obtained in particularly large proportions.

At the same time, it was established that the investigated officials, abusing their public office, would have sold illegally obtained wood to people close to the employees of Orhei SFI at reduced prices, according to the price catalogue. Later, they would have sold it to the citizens at high prices.

Following the searches carried out by the NAC and PCCOCS, carriers of information, documents relevant to the case were seized. Two people were detained for 72 hours.

The criminal investigation continues.
