NAC synthesis: the state budget damaged by over 6 million lei in a case of defrauding public funds and a freezing order issued on a bank account with over 1.5 million lei

The National Anti-corruption Centre has reported several activities, carried out last week on the anti-corruption component, as well as other actions from the spectrum of institutional attributions. Thus, last week several searches were carried out in a case of influence peddling, fraud and forgery in public documents. In the first case, a police officer from Dubăsari and two accomplices tried to settle a rape case with 4,000 euros, but were caught in the act by the NAC officers. In another case, 12 searches were carried out in a criminal case regarding the fraud of public funds for the development of a rural park. Thus, fictitious works not carried out by the economic agent were accepted, the amount of 6,373,710 lei from the state budget being used.

At the moment, 8 people, arrested in the cases initiated by the NAC, are placed in penitentiaries. During the reference period, criminal prosecution officers opened 21 criminal cases, with a total of 554 files in the process.

The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized 2 means of transport worth over 120 thousand lei, last week, based on the delegations of the Border Police and the Bender Police Inspectorate. They were seized in a case by the organization of illegal migration. At the same time, 2 freezing orders were issued on a bank account in the amount of over 1.5 million lei and 2 immovable assets.

In the field of corruption prevention, the Legislation Directorate completed and delivered to the authors 19 expert reports and an opinion on some draft normative acts, last week. Also, 10 forensic expertises were completed, and another 91 expertises are under the management of the specialized department. During the mentioned period, 5 anti-corruption trainings were organized for over 500 people.

At the same time, the NAC notifies the reception of 59 calls to the National Anti-corruption Line and 1,600 materials registered in the Centre’s Chancellery.
