A police employee was detained a short time ago by the NAC officers and prosecutors in a corruption case. The detention took place on Eminescu Street in the Capital and ended with warning fires, carried out by the NAC masks.

In fact, the National Anticorruption Center was notified in a complaint to the national anti-corruption line. According to the whistleblower, a few days ago, a Crew Battalion for operational reaction Center of the Police stopped him for the irregular crossing at the red color of the traffic light and for drunk-driving. After the check, the police driver escorted him to his home, and in order to escape his sentence he would have asked him for 1000 euros.

The NAC initiated a criminal prosecution in this case under art. 324 Criminal Code - passive corruption. Today, the policeman was detained at the time of receiving the money, but he tried to flee the place, defying the warnings of the masks. In order to detain him, the NAC officers fired two warning shots upwards, then immobilized him.

At present, the police officer is at the NAC headquarters and is being heard by the prosecution officers. He is to be held for 72 hours. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

We mention that, every person is presumed to be innocent until a final and irrevocable judgment decision is issued.

We remind that since the beginning of the year, more than 30 police officers have been detained by the NAC for corruption acts.
