Two officials from the Drochia Police Inspectorate detained by the NAC and prosecutors of Balti municipality in cases of systemic corruption

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors of Balti municipality announce the conduct of several criminal investigation actions in the north of the country in criminal cases initiated on acts of systemic corruption, as a result of which 2 police officers from the Drochia Police Inspectorate were detained for 72 hours. At the moment, 9 public agents are suspects in the aforementioned cases.

In fact, the criminal investigation was initiated based on reasonable suspicion that the crime of passive corruption was committed, manifested by the fact that, during the period of February-May, employees of the Patrol Service of the Public Security Section of the Drochia Police Inspectorate, while performing their duties, under the pretext of not documenting the contraventions committed by drivers, allegedly demanded and received from them undue monetary means.

Accumulating evidence following special investigative measures, 22 criminal cases were initiated based on reasonable suspicion that acts of passive corruption were committed. At this time, anti-corruption officers continue to search the homes and cars of the individuals, and all actions are carried out under the procedural leadership of the Bălți Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
