Two representatives of a tourism company and a private medical institution in Chisinau municipality, investigated by the NAC for bribery

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors of Chisinau municipality are conducting several searches at the headquarters of a tourism company and a private medical institution in Chisinau municipality. They allegedly demanded and received from various individuals monetary means in the amount of 1000 euros each, to issue certain medical conclusions attesting to the absence of certain diseases or diagnoses, which are necessary for employment outside the Republic of Moldova.

As a result of the criminal investigation, objects and documents important for the criminal case were discovered, and the persons concerned are to be investigated at liberty, with their recognition and questioning as suspects.

To be mentioned that one of the suspects is being investigated by the NAC in another case of alleged bribery worth over half a million lei to influence a court decision. According to the investigation, the man allegedly claimed that he would have influence over persons with public positions and that he could induce them to intervene to release a person accused of human trafficking from criminal liability. For this service, he allegedly requested 31 000 euros, approximately 603 000 lei, and received 20 000 euros, approximately 389 400 lei, from the interested person.

Currently, the National Anti-corruption Centre is carrying out actions, under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office to establish and document all persons involved in the aforementioned illegal actions and to hold them criminally liable.
