Driving license for 1200 euros. NAC and prosecutors detained a resident of the capital in a case of influence peddling

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) recently detained a man from Chisinau, suspected of influence peddling. He allegedly demanded and received illicit means to obtain a driving license.

According to the case materials, the young man allegedly demanded 1200 euros from a person, claiming that he would have influence over employees of the Driver Examination Department of the Public Services Agency (PSA) and that he could determine them to organize the successful passing of the theoretical and practical test, without the physical presence of the candidate, with the subsequent issuance of the driving license.

The suspect was detained at the time of receiving the money, and following the body search, the financial means were seized, transmitted under the control of anti-corruption officers, including documents proving the alleged act. The suspect was placed in the NAC Detention Centre for 72 hours.

The criminal investigation actions take place under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office. We remind that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is pronounced.
