A man from Chisinau investigated by the National Anti-corruption Centre and prosecutors for influence peddling with a bribe of 5,000 euros

Officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors of Chisinau conducted searches today in the context of a criminal case of influence peddling, in which a man from the capital is targeted. He is suspected of having demanded illicit remuneration from a person to induce employees of the Ialoveni Police Inspectorate to adopt a favourable decision on a criminal case under management.

From the materials administered in the criminal case, it results that the suspect allegedly demanded 5,000 euros from the whistle-blower, claiming that he would have influence over public figures within the inspectorate and that he could determine them to adopt a favourable solution in the criminal case in which the latter was targeted.

Currently, the National Anti-corruption Centre is carrying out actions, under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, to identify and document all persons involved in the aforementioned illegal actions and to hold them criminally liable.

We remind you that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered, and the investigations in this case continue.
