A police officer from the capital, detained by the NAC and prosecutors with a bribe of 1000 euros, following a whistleblowing

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and the prosecutors of the municipality of Chisinau have announced the detention of a police officer from the municipality of Chisinau in a corruption case. He was reported to the NAC by a young man who reported that the police officer allegedly demanded illicit financial means from him in exchange for not sanctioning him for an alleged contravention.

According to the evidence administered, the officer allegedly demanded and accepted 1000 euros from the informant not to sanction him for a contravention for an alleged illicit entrepreneurial activity in the field of cryptocurrency transactions. On March 6, following the transmission of the amount of 1000 euros under the control of the NAC, the suspect was detained for 72 hours, and following the body search, the financial means were detected and handed over to the officers of the Centre.

Currently, the case is being investigated by the NAC under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
