A 21-year-old resident of Falesti district detained by the NAC and prosecutors for influence peddling in the issuance of a driver's license

A 21-year-old young man from Falesti was detained by the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors of the Chisinau municipality in a case of influence peddling. He is suspected of having demanded and accepted 18,000 lei in order to facilitate the obtaining of a driver's license.

According to the investigations carried out, the suspect allegedly acted in collusion with unknown persons, aiming to receive undue financial means from a candidate for obtaining a driver's license. Through a social network, he allegedly demanded and received 18,000 lei in exchange for influencing members of the Chisinau Examination Commission within the Public Services Agency and determining them to adopt a favourable decision to pass the driving exam for the practical test for category "B", with the completion and issuance of a driving license.

Thus, the anti-corruption officers and the prosecutors of the Chisinau municipality transferred the funds in the amount of 18,000 lei under control, and the person was detained in flagrante delicto, having the amount received on him. At the request of the prosecutors, the court issued an arrest warrant in his name for 30 days, with placement in prison.

The criminal investigation actions are carried out under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the Chisinau municipality. We remind that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is pronounced.
