A report on the functioning of the National Anti-Corruption Hotline 0800 55555 of the National Anti-corruption Centre and the results recorded at the anti-corruption hotlines of several public entities were presented today during a meeting with the managers of anti-corruption hotlines. The event, which brought together representatives of 25 public authorities, took place at the headquarters of the National Anti-corruption Centre and is part of the activities carried out by the authorities in the context of the International Anti-Corruption Day, marked annually on December 9.
During the event, the National Anti-corruption Centre mentioned the importance of ensuring the functionality of the anti-corruption hotline system by public entities, to protect and ensure the interest of the citizen when reporting a case of corruption, including the efficiency of this instrument in preventing corruption. In this context, the NAC presented the general rules for the operation of specialized anti-corruption hotlines and institutional information hotlines, as well as the responsibilities for implementing this mechanism. Proposals were also discussed to streamline the process of examining information received through anti-corruption hotlines.
According to the data presented by the NAC, during the 11 months of the current year, a total of 1876 telephone calls were received at the NAC National Anti-corruption Hotline 08005555. Of the number of calls recorded, approximately 80 (44 in 2023) were information about the commission of acts of corruption or corruption-related acts, over 500 – information about other illegal acts, 789 – requests for information and approximately 500 were irrelevant communications.
Ensuring the implementation of the anti-corruption hotline system results from Action 4.2.2. "Ensuring the functioning and promotion of specialized anti-corruption lines within public entities" of the National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Program (NIAP) for 2024–2028 and the Action Plan for the implementation of the NIAP.
Finally, the responsible persons were provided with posters with the contacts of public entities for reporting acts of corruption and information leaflets, made with the support of the project " Strengthening the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova", implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) with funding from the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
