NAC launches a spot promoting integrity values and announces several events this week dedicated to International Anti-Corruption Day

The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) has announced several events for this week dedicated to International Anti-Corruption Day. Celebrated every year on December 9, this day highlights the efforts made by institutions that actively fight to eradicate corruption, and an essential task in this process is the education of citizens and the promotion of a culture of responsibility and integrity. This year, the Centre has planned a series of educational actions that will take place starting today. Thus, at 2:00 p.m., the Anti-Corruption Cafe will take place at Digital Park – an event dedicated to young people, during which the efforts of the authorities and the involvement of young people in promoting a culture of integrity will be discussed. On December 10, from 12:00 to 14:00, at the Vocational School in Orhei, an Anti-Corruption Discussion Club will take place, with the generic name “From Idea to Action”, to which representatives of the German Embassy and the GIZ Moldova project are invited. On Wednesday, the final championship of the Pro-Integrity Quiz will be held at Ion Creangă University in Chisinau. Also, on December 11, the anti-corruption officers will organize two trainings at the “Hyperion” high school in the town of Durlești. On December 12, a meeting with the heads of anti-corruption hotlines within the central authorities will be held at the NAC headquarters. The week will end with a visit to the NAC by several young people from the “Iulia Hasdeu” high school, the Moldova State University and the “Ion Creangă” State University.

In the run-up to the events dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day, the National Anti-corruption Centre, together with anti-corruption volunteers and the GIZ Moldova project, launched a spot promoting the culture of integrity. The main actors of the short film are the anti-corruption volunteers who spoke about the reason for being part of the NAC volunteer team and about their successes recorded in this project.

Also, the director of the NAC, Alexandr Pînzari, addressed a message to the active youth of the Republic of Moldova, urging them to join the institution's efforts to prevent corruption and to transmit anti-corruption messages in society: "The National Anti-corruption Centre is the host institution that offers young people opportunities for personal and professional development through information and awareness-raising training. Young people who will engage in different fields must be integrity and promote this value in their community. Together we can contribute to the elimination of corruption."

International Anti-Corruption Day, which is celebrated every year on December 9, was initiated on October 31, 2003 by the "United Nations Convention Against Corruption" and aims to promote ethical principles, integrity, transparency and accountability in both the public and private spheres. The Republic of Moldova signed the Convention on September 28, 2004 and ratified it by Law No. 158-XVI of July 6, 2007.

The NAC mentions that corruption prevention activities are supported by GIZ Moldova, JARA USAID projects and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.
