An accomplice of the man from Cahul, who allegedly promised to solve a criminal case in exchange for 32 000 euros, detained by the NAC and prosecutors, in Giurgiulesti

The officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and the prosecutors of the municipality of Chisinau have announced the detention of an accomplice of the man from Cahul, detained a few days ago by the NAC and prosecutors, for demanding and receiving 32 000 euros in exchange for influencing the decision on a criminal case. This is the former head of the Ungheni river post, at whose residence criminal investigation actions took place. The searches took place this morning in Giurgiulesti, at the suspect's place of residence. After the completion of all criminal procedural actions, the man is to be placed in the NAC Detention Centre for 72 hours.

It should be mentioned that, currently, the NAC and the prosecutors of the municipality of Chisinau are investigating the actions of the two suspects in a case of influence peddling. According to the accumulated materials, the mentioned persons allegedly claimed to have influence over public figures within the law enforcement institutions in whose management there was a criminal case based on the commission of the crime of influence peddling, instigation and complicity in the committing of forgery and making, possessing or using of false official documents and that it could lead them to apply to the accused a non-custodial sentence in the form of a fine. For mediation, but also for the so-called bribery of law enforcement officers, the suspects allegedly demanded and received 32 000 euros.

Investigations into the case continue in order to establish all the circumstances.
