A man from the north of the country, detained by the NAC in a case of influence peddling. He allegedly promised that he could influence the obtaining of a driver's license for 1600 euros

The officers of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors from the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office have announced the arrest of a man from the north of the country, suspected of influence peddling. He would have claimed that he would have influence on some officials of the Edineț Vehicle Registration And Driver Documentation Office and that he could induce them to favor a candidate for the practical and theoretical exams and issue him a category "B" driver's license in exchange of 1600 euros.

Based on the reported information, the NAC started a criminal investigation for influence peddling, and later detained the person suspected of claiming and receiving the mentioned amount. Searches were conducted at the home and in the suspect's car to consolidate the evidence, and more information relevant to the criminal case was taken from the scene.

All actions took place under the procedural leadership of the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office. At the same time, the court decided to place the accused under house arrest for a period of 30 days.
