NAC and prosecutors conducted searches in the north of the country in a case of electoral corruption and illegal financing of political parties

NAC officers and Balti municipal prosecutors conducted searches in the north of the country in a criminal case, based on the fact of electoral corruption and illegal financing of political parties. The actions targeted the office in Balti municipality of a political party, as well as the residences of individuals affiliated to the respective formation.

According to the data of the criminal investigation, the persons concerned were documented in the process of corrupting voters for the referendum and the elections that will take place on October 20, 2024, the preparation of lists of interested persons, the centralization of information about them, the transmission of their personal data to third parties / financial institutions from outside the Republic of Moldova so that the latter obtain illegal remuneration for exercising the right to vote.

As part of the criminal investigation this morning, mobile phones, cash and draft documents were seized from the persons searched and from the headquarters of the formation.

The actions take place under the procedural leadership of the Balti municipal prosecutors.

We remind that any person shall be presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered.
