200 000 lei for solving a criminal case. A man was detained by the NAC in a case of influence peddling

The NAC officers carried out searches in a case of influence peddling at the residence of a man in Dubăsari district. He is suspected of asking a man for illegal financial means to influence the decision on a criminal case in court.

According to the case materials, the suspect would have claimed 200 000 lei, claiming that he would have influence over some magistrates from the Chisinau Court of Appeal whom he could induce to adopt a favourable decision on the case involving an economic agent. Thus, as part of the criminal investigation, several meetings were documented between the suspect and the person from whom money was allegedly claimed, and the transmission of an instalment of 20 000 lei of the claimed amount was fixed.

Today, the NAC officers, under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, searched the suspect's residence, and mobile phones, information carriers, cards, draft documents were taken from the scene. The suspect was detained for 72 hours and is to be placed in the NAC Detention Centre.
