The National Anti-corruption Centre has reported the detention of six people, last week, in corruption cases. 45 searches were carried out together with the prosecutors and targeted officials and economic agents from Soroca, suspected of rigging public tenders. As a result, the chief architect of the Soroca City Hall, the deputy mayor of Soroca and the secretary of the Municipal Council were detained for 72 hours, and later the court decided to place them under house arrest for 30 days.
In another case, officials from the Territorial Military Centre (TMC) of ATU Gagauzia and an intermediary were searched in a file in which they are suspected of having received various sums of money from persons subject to recruitment in the armed forces of the Republic Moldova to release them from the obligation to complete military service. At the moment, 4 people, arrested in the cases initiated by the NAC, are placed in penitentiaries, and the criminal investigation body has proposed 16 criminal cases for prosecution.
The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized a residential room and a means of transport worth about 2.2 million lei, last week. They were made unavailable in a case of abuse of power and human trafficking based on the delegations of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (AP). At the same time, previously seized assets worth 7.7 million lei were confirmed by court decisions.
In the field of corruption prevention, the specialized department announces the sending to the authors of 12 anti-corruption expert reports and 4 opinions. During the mentioned period, anti-corruption trainings were organized for about 220 people. Also, 8 operational analyzes were completed, 40 calls to the national anti-corruption hotline were received, and more than 1300 materials were registered in the Centre’s Chancellery.
