The National Anti-corruption Centre has reported several activities, carried out last week on the anti-corruption component, as well as other actions from the spectrum of institutional attributions. On Monday, the officers raided four employees of the Orhei State Forestry Enterprise in a case of embezzlement of wood. They would have obtained illegal income in particularly large proportions as a result of an implemented criminal scheme. On Tuesday, an officer of the Chisinau Municipal Police Directorate of the GPI was caught red-handed with 5000 lei, the money he took not to bring the whistleblower to criminal liability. On Wednesday, two ANSP officials were searched in a case of passive corruption. They are suspected of claiming and receiving financial means from economic agents for the issuance of health permits. On Friday, three customs inspectors from the Criva-Mămăliga Customs Post were reported to the NAC for claiming illicit financial means in the process of facilitating the transit of transported products. Also last week, a civil servant, investigated by the NAC, was fined 175 thousand lei, with the deprivation of the right to hold public office for a period of 3 years.
We note that at the moment, one person is detained in the Detention Centre, and 3 other people, arrested in the cases initiated by the NAC, are placed in prisons. During the reference period, criminal investigation officers proposed 8 criminal cases for prosecution and resolved 23 criminal cases.
The Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC seized 5 assets worth about 1.5 million lei, last week, based on the delegations of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the NAC, the Border Police and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. These assets include a residential building, a means of transport, a building plot, a dwelling and non-residential premise, seized in a case of passive corruption, influence peddling and the organization of illegal migration. At the same time, about 132 thousand lei, previously seized, were confirmed by court rulings and 270 thousand lei, in different currencies, were taken over by the administration.
In the field of corruption prevention, the Legislation Directorate completed and delivered to the authors 28 expert reports and an opinion on some draft normative acts, last week. Also, 11 judicial expertises were completed, and another 90 expertises are under the management of the specialized department. During the mentioned period, 2 anti-corruption trainings were organized. The NAC notifies the completion of 3 operational analyses, the release of 112 integrity records, the reception of 37 calls to the National Anti-corruption Hotline and the registration of 1554 materials in the Centre’s Chancellery.
