A policeman was caught red-handed by the NAC. He allegedly asked for 5000 lei not to document the illegal activity of entrepreneurship

An officer of the Chisinau Municipal Police Department of the GPI was detained by the NAC for passive corruption. He allegedly claimed and later received, under control, the sum of 5,000 lei.

The police officer would have requested the mentioned amount in order not to hold the whistleblower liable for the illegal activity of entrepreneurship, actions that fall within his duties. Following the procedural actions carried out, the policeman received the alleged financial means under the control of the NAC officers, shortly after the call made to the National Anti-corruption Hotline.

To accumulate evidence, the body search of the policeman was carried out, following which the monetary means in the amount of 5000 lei, previously handed over to the control of the NAC officers, were seized.

The policeman was detained for 72 hours and placed in the NAC Detention Centre. Currently, criminal investigation actions are taking place, under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
