    The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and the Chișinău municipal prosecutors have announced the conduct of several criminal investigation actions at the Leușeni Customs Post, within which acts of systemic corruption committed by customs employees are being investigated.

    A two-day Training Course on Investigative Techniques and International Co-operation in Corruption Cases has been launched today at the National Anti-Corruption Centre by the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA) within the project “Supporting anti-corruption efforts of the Government of Moldova”. The Training Course is to be implemented in co-operation with Guardia di Finanza (GdF), Italy’s Economic and Financial Police, and the National Anti-Corruption Centre in Moldova.

    The representatives of several anti-corruption institutions, as the employees of the National Anti-Corruption Centre, Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA) of the NAC, Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Financial Intelligence Unit, the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the territorial prosecution offices, will enhance their knowledge and skills in corruption investigation, including in gathering, analyzing and interpreting complex financial data and documents related to corruption cases.

    The deputy director of the NAC, Alexandru Savca, has greeted the anti-corruption experts and thanked the organizers for choosing the NAC as the venue of the course. “I would like to thank the experts from Italy and Romania who will share good practices on international co-operation in corruption cases, discuss about challenges that you face in corruption investigation.“

    Stilian Cortese, Head of Organized Crime, Narcotic and Other Crimes Section, General Command of the Guardia di Finanza, Ministry of Interior came with proposal to consolidate the inter-agency cooperation in combating corruption.

    The project “Supporting anti-corruption efforts of the Government of Moldova” (2023-2027) is aimed at assisting the Government of Moldova in fulfilling relevant OSCE commitments in good governance and anti-corruption, as well as aligning its national standards on preventing and combating corruption with key international instruments and recommendations. The training course will be followed up with a study visit to GdF’s Headquarters in Rome in Fall.
