A delegation of the National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC), led by the director of the institution, Alexandr Pînzari, participated in the proceedings of the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC), which took place from June 18 to 21, in Vilnius, Lithuania. Represented by officers of the criminal investigation subdivisions and the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (CARA), the NAC team had several meetings with counterparts from the states participating in the conference, as well as bilateral meetings where topics of common interest were discussed and mutual collaboration relationships were established in areas of competence.

During the conference, the director of the National Anti-corruption Centre, Alexandr Pînzari, together with prosecutors, participated in the panel that discussed the challenges of the Republic of Moldova in holding high-ranking subjects accountable, including extradition and evidence collection procedures from other jurisdictions and solutions to ameliorate these problems with the support of other countries. The panel brought together 30 leaders of anti-corruption authorities and heads of institutions such as the FBI, OLAF and Interpol, who shared their experiences and progress in their own countries in the field of combating the phenomenon of corruption, cross-border cooperation, tracing and recovering criminal assets.

Also, several workshops were held where specific cases and causes were discussed, as well as solutions regarding their investigation. In the margin of the visit to Vilnius, the NAC team also met with the representatives of the Special Investigation Service (STT) from Lithuania, with which the Centre already has mutual collaboration. The parties agreed to continue the exchange of operational data and intelligence in investigations targeting economic and financial crimes, money laundering and involving cross-border aspects.

The International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) in Vilnius, Lithuania is the world's most important global forum in the fight against corruption, bringing together heads of state, civil society and the private sector to address the challenges posed by corruption. This year, the conference focuses on confronting global threats and defending integrity.
