The strengthening of international cooperation in the field of the administration and recovery of criminal assets was discussed, these days, in Paris, during a meeting of Balkan Asset Management Interagency Network BAMIN and the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AGRASC) and the Criminal Assets Identification Platform (PIAC) of the French Ministry of the Interior. The purpose of the meeting of the specialized agencies was to strengthen mutual collaboration relations to streamline the process of tracing and recovering assets identified in the territories of different jurisdictions.

During the discussions, the director of the National Anti-corruption Centre, Alexandr Pînzari, appreciated the successful cooperation between the member countries of the BAMIN network, whose presidency was held for a year by the Republic of Moldova, but also the successes recorded on concrete cases resulting from the collaboration with counterparts from France. The head of the NAC mentioned that following several discussions and exchanges of operational data, it was possible to identify and seize valuable assets on the territory of France, referring to the criminal case generically called "bank fraud" and the seizure applied to an asset belonging to one of the extras from the case.

Alexandr Pînzari: "The exchange of experience and best practices with the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AGRASC) in France had an important impact for our legislation as well. We managed to operate legislative changes, taken from the French legislation, which would allow us the anticipated capitalization of the seized assets until a sentence is pronounced".

During the sessions, the participants presented their own experiences in the field of tracking, management and recovery of illicit assets, emphasizing the role of specialized agencies in reparation of damages caused by crimes.

To be specified that the meeting took place within the framework of the OSCE Project "Strengthening Asset Recovery Efforts in the OSCE region".
