Several territorial offices of the SFS in the north of the country, searched by the NAC: 5 suspected persons, an inspector detained and 1,500,000 lei taken

The NAC officers carried out dozens of searches in the north of the country as part of corruption cases, in which the illegal actions of some employees of the State Fiscal Service from the territorial offices of Bălți, Șoldănești, Soroca, Fălești and Florești are being investigated.

According to the investigated facts, starting from the year 2023-present, the employees of the Fiscal Service Directorates (FSD) of Șoldănești, Fălești, Bălți, Soroca and Florești of the State Fiscal Service would have claimed and received financial means from various taxpayers, to conceal fiscal violations, including accepting the VAT refund contrary to the established rules, the size of the bribe being 10% of the returned amount.

During the investigations, several actions of sharing bribes between tax employees were found, but also the acceptance of financial means by some representatives of the management of the mentioned departments for the positive evaluation of subordinate employees in order to obtain the high salary percentage.

Thus, following the 36 searches carried out at the homes, means of transport and work offices of civil servants, objects and documents relevant to the criminal case were seized, including financial means in the total amount of 1,500,000 lei. At the moment, 5 people are suspected, one of whom was detained for 72 hours.

Several denunciations were submitted in the morning of 06/04/2024 regarding the corruption of tax officials, including some management officials. The investigation is being conducted under the procedural leadership of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office with the support of the State Fiscal Service.
