The Parliament adopted the National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Program (2024-2028) and the Action Plan for its implementation. The legislative initiative was voted by 60 Members of Parliament.
The National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Program for the years 2024-2028 was developed by a group of MPs in collaboration with the National Anticorruption Center. The program that is currently in force expires at the end of 2023, and the development and approval of an updated project is one of the commitments assumed for the implementation of the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union.
The aim of the document is to strengthen the national system for preventing and fighting corruption by continuing to develop a culture of integrity. Through the implementation of the National Integrity and Anti-corruption Program for the years 2024-2028, the aim is to reduce the phenomenon of corruption and increase the degree of integrity in the public and private sector.
According to the document, four general objectives were established: optimization of integrity standards in the public sector; streamlining measures to prevent and combat corruption and ensuring the inevitability of sanctioning corruption offences; cultivating integrity and reducing acts of corruption in the private sector, including entities with full or majority state capital; cultivating intolerance towards acts of corruption, as well as encouraging the reporting of acts of corruption and illegal practices.
The objectives were correlated with the policy directions established in the National Development Strategy "European Moldova 2030".
