An important businessman was denounced by an inspector of the State Tax Service, after the businessman allegedly offered him 60,000 lei bribe

The director of a company specializing in the production of electric lamps and lighting equipment was detained by the NAC officers and anticorruption prosecutors, after he was denounced by an inspector of the State Tax Service. According to the report, the businessman proposed 60,000 lei to him in order to overlook several irregularities, detected as a result of a control.

In fact, the inspector of the Fiscal Control Department of STS allegedly found, during the verifications, that the company did not pay taxes to the state in the amount of over 2,000,000 lei. In order not to reflect in the control act this amount and to indicate a diminished value, the businessman would have proposed to the official 60,000 lei.

In this case, a criminal investigation was initiated for active corruption. Currently, the businessman is in the NAC detention center, being detained for 72 hours. If found guilty, he risks up to 6 years of prison with a fine from 2,000 to 4,000 conventional units.
