The Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor has announced that the three police officers have been sent to court for criminal prosecution for illegally requesting and receiving amounts between 200 EUR and 7500 MDL, in Balti and Ocnița.

They illegally received the money for the alleged reduction of a fine for hooliganism in Balti.

In the first case investigated by the anticorruption prosecutors two police officers from Balti are involved, who requested and received from a perpetrator 200 EUR for the exemption from the (invented) risk that the cause of hooliganism in which he was involved, would not be transmitted to start the prosecution. The act of passive corruption took place on October 21, the current year, when a senior police officer of the Police Sector no. 4 "Dacia" of the Balti Police Inspectorate contributed as an accomplice to the transmission of money by the citizen who committed the act of hooliganism to a non-commissioned officer of the same sector (as the last one was in training courses in Chisinau).

If convicted by the judges, on the basis of the evidence presented by the anticorruption prosecutors, the police officers risk a fine in the amount of 50 000 lei to 100 000 lei with deprivation of the right to activate in MIA for the term of up to 5 years.

He requested money, illegally, from a craftsman digging wells in Călărășeuca, Ocnița.

In the second criminal case investigated by the anticorruption prosecutors the representatives of law found that the head of the post of Police Sector no. 2 Otaci of the Ocnita Police Inspectorate requested from a citizen the amount of 7500 lei. In exchange he would get a" favorable decision" from the Police Sector, as he dug wells without the license, but also for the fact that he unqualifiedly repaired a well in Călărășeuca, Ocnița. Moreover, he insisted on the repeated repair of the well from the money of the craftsman.

The case started with the complaint filed by the villager of the locality, who did not like the quality of the reparation carried out by the craftsman. However, in the moment of passing the money to the police officer (through another person) on October, 23 in the current year, the police officer was detained by the NAC officers - GTD North. According to the law, the fact that the policeman asked for money that he did not deserve (passive corruption) and did not establish the fine provided by law, is to be punished by imprisonment from 3 to 7 years with a fine in the amount of 200,000 lei to 300,000 lei and deprivation of the right to activate in the MIA bodies for the term of 5 to 10 years.

One of the 3 police officers resigned.

The three police officers sent to court by the anticorruption prosecutors have the age between 24 and 37, with the work experience in police between 2 and 13 years. In spite of the fact the anticorruption prosecutors requested the Ministry of Internal Affairs to suspend the police officers from function, the requests were rejected. However, one of the three convicted, who worked in police for 2 years resigned on his own initiative.
